The Story So Far — Oathbreaker Campaign

✨ Beginnings in Lumis
The party—each bearing their own secrets, scars, and supernatural ties—came together in the city of Aglarion, gathering regularly at a tavern called The Lucky Leap, run by Ricio Tane. It was here that they brushed up against local intrigue for the first time: a mysterious kodal feather, a halfling grifter named Raffolk, and a bugbear crime lord named Golfa who burned the artifact in front of them. Tensions flared, but violence was avoided as the party left with more questions than answers.

🧩 Into the Web of Power
Summoned to meet Lord Signmonder, head of the Crown Military, the party was given their first formal mission: retrieve a prized horse and investigate strange rituals near a windmill. What began as a simple rescue turned grim—fires raged, the noble Rulmland estate was under attack, and an infernal ritual was in motion.

They stormed the Old Grinder windmill, battling cultists and devils. Though Lady Rulmland perished, they saved her son and disrupted the ritual. Behind it all loomed whispers of a deeper conspiracy: infernal forces and a criminal network called the Golden Mask.

🎪 Celebration & Secrets
Despite the horrors, life in Aglarion pressed on—with the grand King’s Games Festival. The group competed in strength contests, musical duels, and cliff-diving challenges. Harlekk triumphed in a bardic faceoff, Nelvax stunned in the Leap of Death, and Zane, haunted by mysterious debts, placed respectably.

Meanwhile, their actions began to echo through the city. Bystanders cheered. Nobles watched. And new power stirred in the background.

🎭 The Champion’s Ball
Invited to the prestigious Champion’s Ball, the group mingled among nobility in a garden full of magic and menace. During the games, Zane accepted a dubious boon from a patron with green tentacles. Harlekk fell in combat, but Zane rallied to win the King’s Gambit. Nelvax, polymorphed into a sheep mid-fight, still managed to turn the tide and win his duel.

Meanwhile, Voss and Xaniver had gone ahead to investigate a haunted manor, uncovering grim secrets: a ghostly maid, suppressed truths, and a spirit-bound estate. They cleansed the evil and claimed the manor—Blackthorn Manor—as their own.

⚰️ The Queen Returns
As the Champions’ Ball reached its climax, a duel between King Waldren and a mysterious armored challenger shook the court. The victor revealed herself as Queen Alyssa, the king’s long-lost first wife—and mother of his heir. Accusing him of kinslaying, she struck him down before vanishing in black fire. The court descended into chaos.

The party withdrew to their newly claimed manor and made tentative plans for the future, with a spectral butler named Mordain now in their service.

🕊️ Funeral & Fire
At the royal funeral, the city mourned beneath black banners. The party, now honored protectors, were tasked with guarding the Queen and Princess. But during the ceremony, statues animated, and a glaive-wielding spirit attacked. Crown Knights were cut down. The party fought valiantly: Zane’s fireball accidentally revealed the true threat, and Voss made a plea so compelling it earned him a powerful artifact—the Spriggan Shield—on loan from Lord Signmonder.

As the echo of battle faded and the fire cooled, the ceremony resumed, and the party stood changed. All had grown in power, and all now stood closer to something ancient, tangled, and dangerous.

🩸 Coronation Chaos

Called to guard Lord Signmonder during Princess Athena’s coronation, the party arrived to find tensions high among nobles and soldiers. As the crown was placed, Athena transformed into a monstrous usurper, issuing cruel decrees and twisting loyal knights into armored werecreatures.

Battle erupted in the grand hall. Zane took to the air, Harlekk swayed hesitant foes, Nelvax caused a stampede with fear magic, and Xaniver struck hard—only to be slain instantly by Athena’s magic. The gates were forced open, and the survivors fled through side streets to the Lucky Leap, battered and grieving.
