Fall of the Tower
Type: Historical event
Region/Scope: Realm of Lumis
Appearance/Notable Features: The collapse was described not only as the end of an institution, but as the unbinding of magic itself.
Overview
The fall of the Tower marked the end of Aglarion’s most powerful arcane order. NPCs described it as more than the dissolution of a faction — its breaking unleashed magic itself, no longer bound or regulated by the Tower’s control.
History
- The Tower long enforced arcane law, demanding all magic be registered and pursuing fugitives and unlicensed casters.
- Tied closely to the Crown, it exerted political and judicial power through agents, magistrates, and bounty hunters.
- In Session 8, Signmonder and Riccio revealed that the Tower has collapsed. Riccio explained that though the Tower is gone, magic roams freely, unshackled and unfettered.
- Eldvarr recalled parting words from the Tower: “your path leads from the Tower and then when it’s done, keep walking,” suggesting the Tower foresaw its end or deliberately cast him out.
Role in the Story
- Introduced in Session 8 – 👑🗝️ Secrets of the Crown.
- Reframes the Tower faction as no longer an active authority, but a fallen institution whose collapse has reshaped the magical landscape.
- Directly affects party members with ties to the Tower, including Zane, Voss, and Eldvarr.
